Glenn BurnSilver is an award-winning journalist covering music, arts, entertainment, beer, sports (cycling, skiing, outdoor stuff) and pop culture in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Glenn is an Associate Editor with Brew Your Own magazine, and a frequent contributor to Relix magazine, among other outlets. His most recent position (2.5 years) was Features Editor at the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Glenn’s blog, “Liner Notes,” is designed to fill the media gap with CD and concert reviews, music, arts and beer writing that might not find a home in traditional print media, but should be presented to a wider audience.
Awards include two from the Society of Professional Journalists, Pacific Northwest, 2009 Excellence in Journalism Competition, Daily Newspapers, Circulation 25,000 or less: First Place, Best Long Feature Story, “Polar Bear’s on Parade: Polar Bear Tourism Booms in Kaktovik and on Alaska’s North Slope,” and Best Section for Latitude 65, the News-Miner’s weekend entertainment section.
Awards from the Alaska Press Club include: Third Place, Best Long Feature Story, Alaska Press Club 2010 Journalism Competition, Large Newspapers and Publications for “Glass Menagerie: Czech Glass Artist Sculpts His Dreams.”
Glenn also received a Fellowship at the National Endowment for the Arts/Columbia School of Journalism Institute for Classical Music and Opera, Oct. 2010.
